Yesterday Converse held a press confernce to announce their Donation to Piedmont Park and the City of Atlanta. Mayor Kasim Reed & Julius “Dr. J” Erving came out to share the importance of youth athletics. Hosted by Reec and Rashan Ali the event also featured a 5 on 5 tournment for the kids that participate in Converse’s Open Gym.

Converse teamed up with The Piedmont Park Conservancy, The City of Atlanta’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, and The Health Education & Communication Center of Atlanta to bring the people of Atlanta 2 state of the art new Converse Star sponsored basketball courts. The court floors are made of a super strengthed plastic that allows drainage and allows better gripping surface then traditional concrete courts. For the past few years Converse has led an array of community-based programs in the Metro Atlanta area such as Open Gym, Barbershop Talks and other basketball events to introduce their new shoe lineup and bring awareness to Youth Athletics.
