Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse from William Castleman on Vimeo.

Many people missed last night’s lunar eclipse, for one of two reasons. One you were asleep. Two maybe the clouds got in the way, but that doesn’t change that fact that you missed it! One thing that made this lunar eclipse special was it’s┬áthe first to fall on the winter solstice since 1638. The next solstice eclipse won’t be until 2094, (84 years) from now. A lunar eclipse is when the sun, earth and moon all align and the earth’s shadow is casted onto the moon. Don’t worry you can see more total┬álunar eclipse’s in 2014, just not on the winter solstice.
